When I Grow Up..... by Judy
While sittin' around with some of her special friends, Milina did some serious thinkin' about what she wants to be when she grows up, and she says ...

I wanna be a hero just like my Daddy is when I grow up ... I wanna be a Police Officer so I can be somebody's hero like my Daddy is to me!

Ain't my Daddy handsome! That makes me 'perdy' 'cause I look just like him!

Daddy says if I really wanna be a Police Officer when I grow up that I have to stop, look, and learn first! So he gave me this book to read titled, "Be Smart, Say NO To Strangers!" It's filled with lots of good stuff to read, and do, but the most important thing is it tells you how to be safe as a 'kid' like me! One very important thing that I found interestin' is ... if a stranger offers you a ride ... SAY NO! RUN AWAY! I hope that doesn't mean that the men in the big brown truck are strangers, 'cause, well, I done took lotsa rides with them! I'll have to ask my Mommy about this!

I also read about "Internet Safety," it says that usin' the internet can be fun, and you can learn lots, too ... if you make good choices and play it safe! HAVE FUN! BE SAFE! It also says that you should never talk to strangers even on the internet, hmmmm, I need to talk to Mommy about this one, too!

With all this readin' to do I really got excited so I asked Mommy if I could try on Daddy's uniform, shhhhhhhhh, don't tell Daddy ... boy do I have some shoes to fill! Mommy thought I was so cute she went wild with the camera! While Mommy was takin' my pic she kept turnin' her head away from me and then I'd hear *sniff* *sniff* I sure hope Mommy's not comin' down with a cold!

Mommy just kept sayin' "just one more, sweetie, just one more!" I was thinkin ... WHAT WAS I THINKIN! I think I created a monster! This is mine and Mommy's favorite pic, well, almost, there's one more even more special than this one, but this one is special because of what it represents, Mommy says! This is what my Daddy and his fellow Officers do in honor of families, and their loved ones passed on, as they go by them in a Funeral Procession. They cover their hearts with their hats and bow their heads in prayer, and this is while they are directin' traffic, what brave heroes they are!

I can say one thing, the hat sure doesn't do a thing for a girl's 'perdy' hairdo! God bless America, and PLEASE bless me with better hair days!
