The Princess and the Pauper by Lori
Once Upon a time there was a little princess named Lunna. She was getting awfully tired of being a princess. She dreamed of what it would be like to be a regular little girl and be able to do regular things.

While strolling in her garden one day, she came across the maid’s daughter Nula. Suddenly Lunna noticed how much they looked alike. Instantly she came up with a plan.

“Hey Nula, let’s switch clothes for a day and see what it’s like to be each other” Lunna said excitedly. “Wow, I’d love to be a princess, Okay!” agreed Nula. And so they did. “Uh Oh” exclaimed Lunna “our hair is not the same color." “That’s okay” said Nula, “You can wear my hat and I can say a wizard turned my hair red." “Great idea” agreed Lunna. “ We royals always fall for that wizard stuff."

Back at the castle, Nula’s older sister, Tana, was helping mom prepare breakfast. Lunna (pretending to be Nula) cried “Oh goody, waffles!” “My you sure look pale today Nula!” exclaimed Tana, “and you know these waffles are for the Princess Lunna. You get porridge as usual." “ Porridge!” thought Lunna, “Being a regular person is not as much fun as I thought it would be!”

In the meantime, Nula excitedly went upstairs to the Princess’ bedroom to see her fabulous toys. She found a doll with real hair and glass eyes that looked like a real little girl. “Naptime,” called the nurse maid. “Naptime?” said Nula.” I’m too old for a NAP”. “Don’t be silly," said the nurse maid, “all little princess' must get their beauty rest." “By the way,” she added “I’ve noticed you are getting a tan. That is unacceptable for a princess. For the next week you must stay indoors to avoid any more sun!"

“This Princess thing isn’t all it’s cracked up to be” thought Nula. As soon as the nurse maid left, Nula snuck out of bed. She ran downstairs and out to the garden.

“Thank goodness you’re here” she exclaimed when she saw Lunna. "I don’t like being a princess." Lunna ran to Nula and hugged her. “I’m glad to see you too” Lunna said. “Let’s switch back please!!! I want to be a princess again." They vowed that they would never again wish to be anyone but who they were. As they said goodbye, Nula quietly wondered “should I have told her that she can’t go outside for a week?"
